Our Team

DISA operates different programs in different fields of development with a dynamic management team. All the Staff of DISA are well trained, experienced and capable to cope with difficult situations and operate the Organization in a systematic way for total improvement. For the Organizations’ twenty three years of restless journey, DISA is grateful to all its staff members. At present DISA has 584 staffs including head office staffs.

The dynamic and hardworking team of DISA is leading by its Founder Chief Executive Md. Shahid Ullah. The hierarchy (chain of Command) of DISA has been maintained by the EC approved Organogram; where the Chief Executive is the management chief. (Click here to see DISA Organogram)

Founder & Chief Executive

Mr. Shahid Ullah, completed his M.Sc. degree from Dhaka University and has more than 28 years of professional experience in rural socio-economic development issue. Mr. Shahid along with likeminded social workers established DISA in 1993 and since than he is leading the organization with the vision to reduce poverty from Bangladesh. Mr. Shahid attended in a number of Training at home and abroad (like: USA, Europe & South Asia) on different areas like Microfinance, Microenterprise, Organizational Management & Development, Human Resource Development, Development Management, Financial Management, Strategic Planning, Community Development, Dairy & Livestock Development and management, Rural Development, Social Services, Fund Raising, and Program Designing etc. He has expertise on microfinance, microenterprise development, volunteer development, child rights protection and community library management. Aloghar (A community based library system) is a unique concept of Mr. Shahid Ullah by which he is now working to enlighten the community.

Director, Administration

Md. Fazlul Haque, Additional Secretary (RTD) was an officer of Bangladesh Civil Service Administrative Cadre. He had served in field administration as Magistrate, LAO ADLG, UNO, ADC, DC. He worked in M/o Water Resources, M/o Primary and Mass Education, Cabinet Division, M/o Textile and Jute, M/o Women and Children Affairs, Directorate of Relief and Rehabilitation (DG), Private Secretary to Honorable President, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh (May 2010 – April 2013), Director General of BIAM Foundation. He is an Examiner and Moderator of Bangladesh Public Service Commission. He visited Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Korea, Australia, UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for different training, seminar, workshop, conference during his professional life.

Program Coordinator, Administration

Md. Iqbal Ahsan completed his BSS and MSS in Economics and have more than 18 years of professional experience in finance, microfinance and administration management. Mr. Ahsan received many trainings like: Village Organization Formation & Savings & Credit Management, Credit Related Accounts Management, Basic Accounting, Microfinance Management Accounts Keeping, Financial Sustainability Ratio Analysis & Delinquency Management and so on. Mr. Ahsan serving DISA since 1997 and has been promoted to Senior Manager (Internal Audit) for his excellent job performance and sincerity towards duties.

Program Coordinator, Special Programs & Int'l Communication Department

Mr. Md. Abul Khaer received MA degree in Human Rights and later on he completed MBA in Human Resource Management. During his service period, Mr. Khaer also completed a certificate course on Human Rights Education with full scholarship from South Korea. Mr. Khaer has more than 24 years of experience in Socio-economic development including psychosocial and human rights sector. He worked with & for different national & international level organizations including UN Agency. Mr. Khaer has professional experiences in Strategic Planning, Project Designing and Implementation, IEC/BCC Materials Development, Training Designing & Facilitation, Establishment of Psychosocial Support structure & mechanisms, Community based Peace Building, Child Protection & Education, Children & Youth Leadership Development, Organize Study Tour, Seminar, Consultation, Workshop, Press Conference at national & international level, Networking, Advocacy, National Level Safety Education Curriculum Development etc. Mr. Khaer also has got scope of having & sharing diverse professional experiences by visiting different countries like: India, USA, South Korea, Italy, Thailand, England, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Cambodia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka etc. for the purposes of training, workshop, seminar, conferences, study visit etc.

Program Coordinator, Micro- Finance

Mr. Chandan Kumar Chakraborty, completed Bachelor of Social Science from Dhaka University has more than 21 years working experience on Microfinance Program. At present he is working for Development Initiative for Social Advancement (DISA) since 2001. He has experience to work with different leading MFIs like: Society for Social Service (SSS), Tangail. Mr. Chandan is an expert in Microfinance program, especially at developing loan and savings policies, prepare operational plan, implement project activities, conducting action research, supervise and monitor filed and branch level staffs etc. He also has experience to participate in different national and international learning and sharing workshops, seminars and conferences at Philippines, Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh.

Sr. Manager, Accounts

Mr. Ruhul Bari, earned his B.Com and M.Com degree in Accounting and also completed Chartered Accountancy Course from a renowned Chartered Accountancy Firm Howlader Yunus & Co. Mr. Bari has more than 10 years of experience to serve DISA as Head of Accounts Department. He has experience to guide and supervise overall finance activities, prepare financial reports, record keeping, risk management and budgetary control, managing Tax and VAT etc. Mr. Bari received many national and international training on Accounts and Finance Management.

Sr. Manager, Health & Education

Md. Golam Sarwar, serving DISA since 2010 as Senior Manager of Education & Health Program. Mr. Sarwar has more than 24 years of professional experience in Education and health development. He served in BRAC. Mr. Sarwar received many national and international training in his career and attended many workshop, seminars, conferences etc. He is expert in education program development, health project management, staff supervision and team management etc.

Project Manager, DLDP

Mr. Anwar has completed his M B A, M A, Diploma in Journalism and M Sc, B Sc (Hons.) degree. He is possessing more than 35 years of dairy-experience with Milk Vita (31 years) and Tatka ( 04 years). He joined in DISA DLDP project in 2015. Mr. Anwar has expertise in: Preparation of Dairy projects, Management of Dairy plant - erection, installation, commissioning, & processing of quality products, management of farmers organization, knowledge imparting on management/dairy issues through training and motivation. He received many international training and visited many countries for experience sharing and learnings. Besides, Mr. Anwar also shared assignment as Trainer on management issues arranged by BIM (BMDC), KAFCO, JOBS, FAO/UNDP, BUET, BizEx, Rangs Bangladesh, Petro Bangla, REB, Grameen Phone; Milk Vita, etc.

Advisor, Aloghar

Salima Naznin Bithi, completed College degree and involve with different social activities of DISA since its inception. From the establishment of Aloghar (A community based library system, initiative of DISA)- she playing the role of Advisor. She engaged herself in Aloghar as a catalyst- by who the staffs and the members become inspired to participate more in its activities. With her agile participation in each Alor Ashor (a community weekly discussion session of Aloghar)- the success of Aloghar is promoting day by day.

Consultant, Administration

Mr. Hoque achieved his B.Com degree and has more than 28 years of experience both at Government and NGO jobs. He has expertise in Administration and Human Resource Management. Mr. Hoque received many training in his career like: Personal Management Administration & Supervision, Upazilla Social Services Program Implementation & Development, Rural Health & Family planning, Office Administration & Management, Management of Village Based Institutions and Training of Trainers (T.O.T) on Gender Issues etc. Mr. Hoque is serving DISA for last five years

Advisor, DTTI

Mr. Abul Basher Miah finished his Masters in Applied Chemistry from University of Dhaka. He was Co Chairman, Organizing Committee of 16th Asian Chemical Congress held on 16-19 March 2016, Dhaka; Acting President and Life Member, Bangladesh Chemical Society; Chairman, Governing Council, Institute of Chemists & Chemical Technologists, Bangladesh and attached with many organizations. He was Director (Technical & Engineering), Secretary, Executive Director & Training Director (TICI) BCIC; Managing Director, Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory Ltd and Magura Paper Mills Ltd; Program Coordinator on “EMS in Industries” by World Bank. He has two scientific research papers in the Dhaka University Studies (part-B) in 1980 and 1981. His 60 Published articles are on safety, environment, health, chemical technology & other popular scientific issues. During his professional life he travelled Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, China, and India for participating seminar, workshop & training program.

Principal, DTTI

Md. Atiar Rahman completed Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management from Bangladesh Institute of Management, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Sweden Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Kaptai, Chittagong Hill Tracts (awarded 1st in order of Merit). In long 39 years Professional Experience about his profession, he worked as Manager (Training & Education) MAWTS Institute of Technology; Asstt. Mechanical Engineer, Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF), Gazipur; Diploma Engineer, Prokauhal Upodesta Ltd, Dhaka; Technical Officer (BSCIC), Dhaka; Sub Asst. Engineer in Bangladesh Water Development Board, workshop MEO, Tejgaon, Dhaka; Consultant (ILO), Dhaka; Junior Instructor, Sweden Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Kaptai, Chittagong Hill Tracts. During his long service period he attended so many National and International Seminar/ Workshop/Symposium in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. He has vast knowledge and skills in Technical, Vocational Education and Training Industry as well.

Sr. Manager, Administration

Mr. Raisuddin Ahmed obtained his BA and MA degree and possessing almost 26 years of professional experience in Microfinance and NGO sector. Mr. Rais received six months foundation training from the Nobel Prize winning organization Grameen Bank. He also received training on Microfinance Management, Administration and Human Resource Management, and ToT from BSTD, Dhaka. Mr. Rais is one of the dedicated staff member of DISA who maintaining the Administration and Human Resource Unit of DISA for last 12 years.

Senior Programme Manager, Aloghar Programme

Mr. Md. Anisur Rahman has completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Afterwards he completed Executive MBA and Masters of Social Science in sociology and Anthropology from Asian University of Bangladesh, He had worked in CARE-SHABGE-SDC Project, Intercooperation LEAF Project, Manusher Jonno Foundation Ending Violence Against Women Project, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation Samriddhi and Local Agribusiness Network (LAN) Project. Since his 18 years working tenure in those Organizations he gained a considerable knowledge on Livelihoods Development, Social Development and Market development approaches. Mr. Anisur is an expert in Value Chain Development and Service Market Promotion especially in promotion of agricultural commercialization.

Research Fellow

Dipok Kumar Choudhury is a Research Fellow at Development Initiative for Social Advancement (DISA), Bangladesh. Prior joining DISA, he had been working in the JICA-Kyushu University project as a marketing manager and also worked at Win Incorporate, Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID), SGS and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman Agriculture University (BSMRAU). He has keen interests in many core areas of economics and development policy including macroeconomics analysis. So he pursued his MSc in Agricultural Economics from the Kyushu University, Japan and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. He also worked at different development projects at UNDP, Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN), Grameen Phone Community Information Center (GPCIC) and JIGASHA 7676 (BANGLALINK).
