Joynal (36) a fish feed trader, residing Alipur village, Nanggol Court Upazila, Comilla, was the youngest son of parents. Joynal completed his BSS degree and could not continue study because of family. In 2001, Joynal started fish feed trading from his village bazar. Besides the trade, he also looks after their crop lands. In 2005, he had been elected Secretary General of Bazar Samity (Market traders Union). The income from the trade and agriculture was not enough for his family. When the Local Agricultural Network (LAN) project (supported by HELVETAS) of DISA started in 2014, since then Mr. Joynal actively engaged with the activities. He signed an agreement with DISA- LAN project for sustaining the agricultural business. With the encouragement of DISA and its exchange visit to Feni district, Joynal became interested to start hatchery and pisciculture. Thus, in July 2014, Joynal started his new business with three ponds. He cultured different types of carp and cat fishers. Now he has 8 ponds with 12 acres and earned almost 3.5 million taka in last year. He is now planning to expand his business and relief of his children’s education and future. Joynal feels grateful to DISA and HELVETAS for showing new paths.
