For leading a happy life in a family like other Bengali female; AMINA BEGUM also came to her husband’s house. But the tail of poverty blocked all their happiness. Her husband was day labor; who worked in others land and lives from hand to mouth. Amina feels to help her husband and got admitted to Harong Krishi Mahila Samity of DISA in December 2008. She started savings and started their vegetable gardening with the loan of taka 20,000 from DISA microfinance program. They grew potatoes and tomatoes in their leased land. Selling the vegetables, they repaid the loan and again took 30,000 taka for the same purpose in larger scale. Soon, they step towards their success and earned livelihoods from the business.
The green vegetables not only brings the money also brings the happiness on Amina’s face. She is now thinking to rear milking cow, cultivate fishes in pond and starting other business for securing their children’s future. Poverty is not a problem for Amina now; she left all the obstacles in her life.
